CareNow® - June 17, 2020

At CareNow® urgent care, we can use Virtual Visits to discuss any minor illness or injury. Our providers will review your symptoms, discuss possible diagnosis.

If a prescription is needed, we will send one straight to the pharmacy of your choice.

While there are some instances where a follow-up in-person visit may be required to properly evaluate your condition, the following are frequently able to be diagnosed and treated with Virtual Visits.

Our providers can also help determine if a referral to a specialist is required.

Bladder / urinary tract infection

In the past, receiving treatment for a urinary tract infection required scheduling an office visit and suffering through your symptoms until you can see your primary care physician.

Now, our Virtual Visits allow you to talk to a provider via video the same day you may need us. If your provider determines you’ll need a prescription, you can have it in your hands that same day, too.

UTIs can be miserable, but you don’t have to suffer. If you’re experiencing symptoms Virtual Visits are an easy, convenient way to talk to a provider without having to wait days for an appointment—from the comfort of your own home.

Bronchitis

Bronchitis is a fairly common condition. There are two types of bronchitis: acute and chronic. Acute bronchitis sets in quickly and usually lasts for two to three weeks, whereas chronic bronchitis causes recurring symptoms that can last for several weeks or months.

Since bronchitis is usually caused by a virus, antibiotics are generally not helpful and are not frequently prescribed. However, a provider can make a treatment plan including other over-the-counter and prescription medications to help you feel better.

Flu

The flu, otherwise known as influenza, is one of the most common conditions CareNow® Urgent Care treats.

Since the flu is highly contagious, it is beneficial for patients with the flu talk to a provider from home as it prevents further spreading of germs.

During a Virtual Visit, your provider will ask you a series of targeted questions to determine if your symptoms point to flu.

Then your provider will proceed to determine the best treatment plan for you. Your provider may recommend in-person examination if needed, since flu tests must be done in-clinic to confirm if you have a common influenza strain.

Migraine / headache

Headaches are pain in any region of the head. The most common types of headaches are tension headaches, which is the result of stress, depression, anxiety or other illness or injury.

Other common types of headaches include:

  • Migraines
  • Cluster headaches
  • Sinus headaches

The above are all examples of a primary headache, which is defined as a headache that occurs independently of another condition.

During your Virtual Visit, your provider will ask you a series of targeted questions to determine if your symptoms point to a specific type of headache.

Once a diagnosis has been made, your provider will go over the risks and benefits of the various treatment plans. Treatment for headaches is different depending on the severity.

Pinkeye

Pink eye is one of the most common conditions we treat at CareNow® Urgent Care. Pink eye occurs when microorganisms, such as bacteria and viruses, get into your eye and cause inflammation.

During your Virtual Visit, your provider might also ask you to shine a light on your eye for better visibility and inquire about past treatments you have had for pink eye.

With our video capabilities, you can bring your phone, tablet or desktop with video close to your eye, so your provider can get a clear view of the illness.

Once a diagnosis has been made, your provider will go over the risks and benefits of the various treatment plans.

Rash

There are a wide variety of skin rashes and all of them are treated differently, so it’s important to know which rash you may have. Some of the most common rashes we see at CareNow urgent care are:

  • Poison ivy/oak
  • Eczema
  • Lyme disease
  • Bug/Spider bites
  • Hives
  • Chiggers
  • Diaper rash
  • Tinea

Rashes can also occur as part of a viral infection and in some cases, bacterial infections.

Before your visit begins, think about what may have encouraged the rash to start in the first place. The cause of the rash and your recent history will be very helpful in making an accurate diagnosis.

If your rash has been present for a few days and you have a picture from the first day, it is helpful for our providers to see the comparison.

Treatments for a rash will vary depending on the severity and type.
